Rotra plays leading role in sustainable logistics
By using vehicles that run on alternative fuels, Rotra gives concrete substance to its social responsible business operations. For example, a truck running on ethanol was put into operation in 2007 and in 2009 we introduced an Econic gas truck. To achieve further reduction of CO2 emissions, 2011 saw the introduction of gas trucks running on CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) and LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas). NG is the liquid form of CNG and has the advantage that it is stored in refrigerated form. As a result, significantly more fuel can be carried with which the radius of the truck increases to approximately 750km. As fuel, LNG emits significantly less particulate matter and CO2. Moreover, the new trucks are much quieter. In early 2013, five LNG trucks were purchased and another 4 in 2015, in order to further reduce CO2 emissions.
